Hello!
We are Neighborhood Advice, a community organization that connects current students to educational mentors and educational advisors. We supplement our main goal of mentorship by providing information to students and mentors in the forms of LinkedIn articles, Instagram posts, Facebook posts, and more!
The Idea
We want to create a central location for students and mentors to be able to find and connect with each other. Ideally, our mentors are individuals that are comfortable taking on a couple of students, conduct one-on-one conversations, and remediate any concerns or worries that the students may have. To make our idea come to life, we started as a resource-based organization: providing blog posts, question-answer services, and information sessions to all students. Now, we are working on casting a wider net and reaching more students with our resources!
Our Story
We, Neighborhood Advice, began as a small non-profit in Elkridge, Maryland, providing information sessions to immigrant families in our community. Most of these families were not sure of the workings of the American education system and, along with a plethora of questions about student success, they weren’t really sure where to begin.

Our approach to remedying this information gap was to provide free information sessions at local libraries to standardize the information that was provided and encourage parents and students alike to start asking the right questions.
